One sign veganism has come of age is when one of the world’s biggest, all-american style burger chains caters to you.

Hungry Jack’s  new Vegan Cheeseburger (Yes, 100% Vegan) has just launched.

The all-important ingredients list:

  • Double vegan patty (made from corn, capsicum and carrot)
  • Vegan cheese and vegan mayonnaise
  • Tomato sauce, onions, tomato, lettuce
  • Seeded bun.

Before you decide whether to be excited or appalled, here’s a critic-affirming foodie review by a non-vegan for Australian news site news.com.au

We’ll personally be travelling the extra distance to Lord of the Fries for our next Vegan or Vege burger fix (or homemade).

Vegans are taking over the world, one fast-food chain at a time!

A few months ago Hungry Jack’s started trialling a “Vegan Whopper” in selected stores in Sydney and Melbourne. The burger was so successful they’ve now officially launched a 100% Vegan Cheeseburger, including vegan cheese and mayo, in all 400 Australian stores.

Australian burger lovers are the first in the world to get their hands on this very vegan menu item, which is not even available yet at affiliated Burger King stores in America.

People’s growing concerns about cruelty to animalsclimate change and their own health have led Google searches for the word “vegan” to increase to an all-time high. Globally, Australians are at the forefront of this trend.

That’s right – Aussies have the biggest appetite in the world for vegan eating!

It’s never been easier to go vegan. Check out Peta’s Australian fast-food guide to find out where else you can grab a delicious vegan feed on the run.
