Welcome friend, to the very first Letter from the Editor!

I’m excited about this as a fun way to share some of our behind-the-scenes insights and get better acquainted 🙂

Firstly I’d like to thank you. If you’re reading this, it’s likely because you’ve joined a movement (or are on the way) to reduce your dependence on typical ‘consumerism’ and think about the ways you can positively impact the world through these choices.

Ethical fashion is about turning something frivolous and wasteful back into the significant, creative, functional and iconic representation it was always meant to be. This is our philanthropic mission and we welcome you to join us.

In my role as Founder & Editor of Ethical Fashion Australia™, I am conscious of the established and tight-knit ethical community that exists, the legacy of these designers and ambassadors, and am dedicated to discovering new ways in which we can work together to continue the growth, education and not to forget enjoyment, of this necessary evolution.

During our first month of operation, I’ve been so happy to connect with writers, trainers, magazine creators, designers (and revolutionaries!) in this space, and know that 2018 will be a pivotal year for the Ethical Fashion movement.

A little about my personal journey (Note: I love discovering the stories behind ethical journeys so feel free to send me yours)

What is known as Ethical Fashion Australia™(Update: now Ethical Fashion Review) today, started back in the 90s in Mr Phipps’ Year 8 English class where he opened my eyes to the truth of animal testing, and encouraged any passionate students to contact PETA to join the campaign to help end this cruelty. Less than a week later I was enthusiastically raising funds & organising petitions, amazed that someone could have an impact on the world at just 13 years old.

Straight out of high-school I started my blog ‘The Green Edition’ (which I wish I’d continued!) promoting environmentally conscious living, and not long after, a passion-project-come-startup supporting fair trade and natural beauty products, all whilst working full-time in endless 9-5 jobs.

This was more than 15 years ago now, and today, the ways in which people can virally influence and affect the world around them absolutely dazzles me. I’m so glad to be connecting and conspiring with the growing population of extraordinary people using their time to support worthy causes, and in my view, changing the world.
